A fresh controversy broke out between comedian Kunal Kamra and the BJP after he shared a photo on social media wearing a t-shirt allegedly mocking the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). His post drew harsh reactions from many political leaders as the BJP minister warned him about police action. Shiv Sena also reacted strongly to this.
Here is Kunal Kamra’s post
In one of his posts, Kunal Kamra posted a photo in which he is wearing a t-shirt with a dog and RSS logo printed on it and captioned it as, “Not clicked at comedy club.” However, the R of RSS is not clearly visible, it may be a P instead. However, judging by its title, it can be assumed that it targets RSS.
BJP and Shiv Sena react
Maharashtra minister and senior BJP leader Chandrashekhar Bawankule warned that the police would take action against him, and Bawankule, reacting to Kamra’s social media post on Monday, which featured a T-shirt with the image of a dog on it, in reference to the RSS, the ideological mentor of the BJP, said, “Police will take action against anyone who makes such objectionable posts.”
Reacting to this post, BJP spokesperson Keshav Upadhyay said, “Many such dogs and donkeys tried to sabotage the work of the Sangh, but the society also kicked their ass. Therefore, the Sangh continued to grow and the dogs and donkeys disappeared!”
Shiv Sena cabinet minister Sanjay Shirsat, whose party is allied with the BJP, said the RSS should respond strongly to the comedian’s post. “He earlier targeted PM Modi and Eknath Shinde and now he has dared to attack the RSS directly. The BJP needs to respond to this,” Shirsat said.
Kunal Kamra in controversy
Kunal Kamra is no stranger to controversy. He made headlines for attacking, mocking and criticizing the BJP, RSS, PM Modi and Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde. In his YouTube special ‘Naya Bharat’, Kunal Kamra changed the lyrics of a popular Hindi song and called Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde a “traitor” as the Maha Vikas Aghadi government collapses due to political change in 2022. Eknath Shinde’s party supporter vandalized the show registration venue and threatened Kamra.
