Constable Performs CPR, Saves TGSPDCL Worker’s Life in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Showing extraordinary intelligence, a police constable of Tappachabutra police station saved the life of a Telangana State Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL) contract employee, who suffered a serious electric shock while performing field duties on Thursday.

Forty-four-year-old Raju Naik, an assistant lineman at the Karwan electricity office, was carrying out line repairs on an electric pole near the Kummarwadi Hanuman Temple in Karwan. During the process, he accidentally came into contact with a live high voltage wire, received a massive electric shock and fell from the pole to the ground, instantly losing consciousness as his pulse dropped.

Police constable of Tappachabutra police station, B. Suresh, while patrolling nearby, almost noticed the commotion and rushed to the spot without a moment’s delay. Observing that the worker was unresponsive and not breathing, Suresh immediately started Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

He systematically administered continuous chest compressions, which successfully revived the victim’s pulse and temporarily restored breathing at the scene. After successful administration of emergency first aid, Suresh, with the help of local people, took the injured worker to the hospital in an emergency vehicle for further medical attention.

The worker is currently receiving treatment in hospital. Naik’s condition is stable, the doctor said, adding that immediate cardiac massage within the golden hour was effective in preventing a fatal outcome and saving his life.

Tappachabutra Inspector G. Balakrishna lauded the exemplary bravery, quick response and community policing spirit displayed by Suresh (4938) in saving a human life during an active emergency.
