Teenager fatally stabbed behind school

A young boy who was allegedly stabbed to death behind a school has died.

Emergency services were called to a park in Sydney’s northwest at around 4pm on Monday to reports of an assault.

NSW Police said in a statement on Monday evening that officers arrived at the Bruce Purser Reserve behind Rouse Hill High School to find a 17-year-old boy who had been stabbed in the leg.

The teenager was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics but could not be saved and died at the scene.

While the police are investigating the crime scene, the investigation continues.

Commonwealth Attorney Michelle Rowland, whose Greenway federal electorate includes Rouse Hill, said she was deeply saddened to learn that such a young life had been lost.

“There is no place for these senseless acts of violence in our community, and I know this news will be especially distressing for local families,” he said in a Facebook post Monday evening.

NSW Police will hold a media briefing later on Monday evening.
