Datta Meghe passed away four time Lok Sabha MP and veteran BJP leader dies at 89

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Datta Meghe’s close aide and former Nagpur deputy mayor Raghunath Malikar passed away on Sunday evening at the age of 89, he said.

Meghe is survived by her husband, two sons, two daughters and grandchildren. He was the father of Hingna MLA Sandeep Meghe and former MLC Sagar Meghe.

Four-time Lok Sabha MP with long political career

Meghe had a long political career and was elected as Lok Sabha MP four times from Nagpur, Ramtek and Wardha constituencies. He also served as a member of the Rajya Sabha from 2002 to 2008.

Shift from Congress to NCP and later to BJP

He started his political journey with the Congress and later joined the Nationalist Congress Party led by Sharad Pawar in 1999. He also served as a minister of state during his term.

Meghe joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2014 and remained associated with the party in later years.
