Kerala Govt To Provide Rs 10 Lakh Aid To Valparai Accident Victims

Thiruvananthapuram : The Kerala government on Saturday decided to provide financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh to the dependents of some of those killed in the road accident at Valparai in Tamil Nadu last month. In the statement made by his office, it was stated that the decision was taken at the Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

Ten members of a group of 13 teachers and staff of Pallipparambu Government Primary School in Malappuram district of Kerala went on a trip to Valparai and 10 of them died in the accident.

The statement stated that the Cabinet has decided to provide financial assistance of 10 lakh rupees from the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund to the families of five uninsured victims.

It was stated that the expenses incurred during the treatment of those covered by insurance will be covered by CMDRF.

The statement stated that the Cabinet decided that the treatment expenses of the three survivors would be covered by the government.

In addition, it was stated that the Cabinet also decided to approve the order issued to create 14 additional positions for the smooth functioning of the 12th Salary Commission.
