DC Edit | Don’t Delay Kerala CM Further

The delay caused by the Congress high command in the selection of the leader of the legislative assembly party in Kerala is inexcusable and disproportionate; The party needs to find someone to be the next chief minister of the state.
After the Assembly election results were announced on May 4, the state has been waiting for the formation of a people’s government for more than a week for reasons unknown to anyone. There is no ambiguity in the people’s verdict: The decision is against the LDF, which is seeking a third consecutive term, and in favor of the UDF, which has secured an unprecedented majority of 102 seats in the 140-member Assembly.
The Congress claims that it has the process of finding the party leader in the legislature: The high command will announce the name after considering various factors, including the views of the party’s elected legislators. That process is already over. This time, the party also sought the opinion of the leaders of its alliance partners. The ball is definitely in the national leadership’s court.
It is a fact that all three leaders competing with each other have solid claims. AICC general secretary (organization) KC Venugopal is reportedly the choice of majority of legislators owing to his long work in state politics and the role he continues to play there; CWC member and former leader of the Opposition Ramesh Chennithala is the most experienced and senior to all the other contestants in terms of parliamentary and organizational work; Opposition leader VD Satheesan is believed by party cadres and even the public to be the architect of UDF’s landslide victory.
Finding a scale to measure them all will be a difficult choice for leadership. However, the party needs to make a decision because the public’s patience is running out. After all, leadership is about making the right decisions at the right time.
