Death toll in ammonia gas leak rises to 17

Following the death of a woman from Odisha on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, the death toll in an ammonia gas leak at a seafood processing and export facility in Tiruvallur district increased to 17.

According to a bulletin issued by the Ministry of Health, the deceased was identified as Anjana Juanga from Kendujhar in Odisha.

Of the 83 people affected by the ammonia gas leak that occurred on June 21, 15 are still in hospital, one is on ventilator support, six are on oxygen support and eight patients are in stable condition. So far, 51 people have been discharged after their treatment.
