Delhi Weather Today, July 11: Rain alert for Delhi, Noida, Gurugram; IMD warns of heavy showers

Delhi-NCR woke up to pleasant weather with cloudy skies, cool winds and low humidity on Friday after two days of heavy rains. However, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rain again in some parts of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, while rainfall activity is expected to decrease in several parts of Mumbai and Maharashtra.

IMD has issued an orange alert for Delhi, warning of heavy rain throughout the day. According to the meteorological department, rainfall intensity in the capital is expected to decrease from July 11.

Delhi-NCR weather forecast

According to IMD, Noida is expected to record a maximum temperature of 35 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 25 degrees Celsius on Friday. The weather forecast calls for partly cloudy skies with one or two showers of rain or thunderstorms.

In Gurugram, the weather department has predicted a maximum temperature of 28 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 27 degrees Celsius with partly cloudy skies and one or two spells of rain or thundershowers.

Red alert for many districts in Uttar Pradesh

IMD has issued a red alert for Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor, Moradabad, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Badaun, Sambhal and Jyotiba Phule Nagar indicating the possibility of extremely heavy rainfall.


Orange alert has also been issued for Sitapur, Hardoi, Bulandshahr, Saharanpur, Kushinagar, Lakhimpur Kheri, Shahjahanpur and Hapur.

Rains expected to weaken across Maharashtra

Rainfall activity is expected to decrease across Maharashtra on Friday, with light showers expected in most parts of the state. However, IMD has placed Pune and Satara under orange alert. While yellow alerts remain in force for Raigad, Kolhapur, Buldhana, Akola, Amravati, Nagpur, Chandrapur and Gadchiroli, residents have been advised to remain vigilant.

Monsoon completes its advance across India

The Southwest Monsoon is moving towards the remaining parts of the northern Arabian Sea, Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab, the meteorological department said.

However, the monsoon completed its seasonal advance across India by covering the entire country on July 9, a day after its normal arrival date of July 8.

Assam issues advisories due to rain and storm forecast

The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) has urged people to take precautions after the IMD predicted widespread rainfall and thunderstorms in Guwahati and other parts of the state from Friday and over the next few days.

According to the warning, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, moderate rains and isolated heavy rains are expected in the next two to three days, especially in Guwahati and southern and central parts of the state.

ASDMA warned that weather conditions could lead to waterlogging, flash floods, slow vehicle movements and an increased risk of localized landslides in sensitive areas.

Schools remained closed in Himachal districts

Following continued rains in some parts of Himachal Pradesh, all government and private educational institutions, as well as Anganwadis, remained closed in Sirmaur and Solan districts on Friday.

The Meteorological Center in Shimla said heavy rainfall was expected in various parts of the state and warned of possible landslides, flash floods, uprooting of trees and road closures.
