Demand for postal ballots: HC declines to issue interim order

The Kerala High Court has refused to pass an interim order to deploy more than 20,000 polling officers in the state who were unable to cast postal votes in the recently concluded Assembly elections.

The court was hearing a series of petitions seeking to take steps to provide postal votes to staff on polling duty and to extend the period for postal voting. The HC said an interim order was not warranted and was therefore rejected.
