Former UK ambassador to US arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office

Former British ambassador to the United States Peter Mandelson was arrested in England on Monday on suspicion of abuse of public office, officials said.

London’s Metropolitan Police said “officers arrested a 72-year-old man at an address in north London on suspicion of misconduct in public office” and he was taken to a police station for questioning.

Police did not name Mandelson, in line with British police practice, but the suspect in the case was previously identified as Mandelson.
