Desperate search for teen missing at Callide Dam, man missing in surf at Bargara in Queensland

Two search and rescue operations are underway in Queensland after a teenager and a man disappeared while swimming in separate incidents.
Emergency services were first called to a beach at Bargara in the Bundaberg region at around 5.50pm on Wednesday following reports that a swimmer was missing.
Citizens told the search team that a bald-headed man had fallen into the water and did not surface.
The search ended around 10pm and resumed in the early hours of Thursday morning with the help of specialist officers, the SES, lifesavers, LifeFlight and the volunteer sea rescue team.
Later on Wednesday evening, emergency services were called to Callide Dam in Dumgree, a small town in the Banana Shire inland Gladstone, after reports of a teenager missing while swimming.
The child was last seen swimming in the dam around 5 pm and did not surface.
In the police statement, it was said, “Emergency services, including the police and SES, started search and rescue operations in the dam and the surrounding area, with the support of the dam management.”
Police urged locals to refrain from assisting in the search for water as it could “jeopardise existing search efforts”.
The search for the young man resumed on Thursday morning.
