Trump issues major warning to Iran regime leaders as he urges protesters to ‘take over’ | World | News

Donald Trump gave a big warning to the regime in Iran trying to suppress the protesters. In a post shared on Truth Social on Tuesday, the US President called on protesters who have taken to the streets since late December to continue their protests and “take over institutions.”

He wrote: “Iranian Patriots, KEEP PROTESTING – STATE YOUR INSTITUTIONS!!! Hide the names of the murderers and abusers. They will pay a high price. I have canceled all meetings with Iranian officials until the senseless killing of protesters STOP. HELP IS ON THE WAY. MIGA!!! PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP”

It remains unclear what Mr. Trump meant when he said “help is on the way,” but White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters yesterday, Jan. 12, that airstrikes were among “many options” the president was considering, while emphasizing that diplomacy was “always the first option.”

This comes just a day after President Trump announced that countries doing business with Iran would face a 25% tariff on their trade with the United States.

Mr. Trump wrote: “Effective immediately, any country doing business with the Islamic Republic of Iran will pay a 25% tariff on all business with the United States.

“This Order is final and final. Thank you for your attention to this matter.”

His remarks came after reports from rights groups claiming that the Iranian government plans to execute the first protester on Wednesday for his alleged role in the nationwide demonstrations.

Norway-based Hengaw Human Rights Organization reported that Erfan Soltani, a resident of Fardis near Tehran, may be the first person sentenced to death in the ongoing crackdown on protesters.

The organization added that Soltani’s family was only informed of the decision on Monday and that information about both the charges and judicial proceedings were denied.

Deadly protests at 585 locations in 186 cities across all 31 provinces of Iran are now in their third week

An Iranian official told Reuters news agency that approximately 2,000 people died in protests in Iran.
