Donald Trump tariff announcement: 100 per cent pharmaceutical products tax, 25pc on trucks, 50pc on furniture
President Donald Trump announced a 100 percent new tariff unless businesses started to establish a facility in the USA.
Mr. Trump said that since October 1, branded or patented pharmaceutical products will be hit with a 100 percent tariff and that businesses can only avoid tax when they are “breaking” in the USA.
“As of October 1, 2025, we will apply 100% tariff to branded or patented pharmaceutical products unless a company builds a pharmaceutical production facility in the United States.”
“’BUILDING’ will be defined as“ breaking ground ”and/or“ under construction ”.
“Therefore, if the construction has started, there will be no tariff on these drug products.”
The new tax threatens the Australian pharmaceutical industry, which was worth $ 2.2 billion in 2024.
The latest tariff announcement in Blitz, Mr. Trump also announced a 25 percent tariff in heavy trucks imported to the US and furniture.
“From 1 October 2025 on October 1, 2025, we will apply a 50 percent tariff to all kitchen cabinets, bathrooms and related products. In addition, we will get 30 percent of tariffs in furniture furniture,” he wrote.
