Doubts raised over real reason for police search

(NewsNation) — New details emerge about the past of the family accused of hiding it 16 children He was locked in a dilapidated Ohio house.

“When he was first arrested and appeared in court, he had no idea what was going on,” Conlin said. “He didn’t fully define the role of the judge, or even the role of his own attorney. So as a defendant, you really need to be able to assist in your own defense, and they’re not sure that’s going to happen.”

Gary Sr.’s niece and his wife, Christina, 67, seem to confirm this. Conlin said his nephew spoke out online to defend his elderly aunt and uncle. He says there were reports of deplorable conditions in the house and How were the children found? Conlin also discovered that police may have had more information about the family’s situation before searching the home in June. Initial reports in the case suggested that the police search was initiated after authorities arrived at the home to serve an arrest warrant for Gary Siders Jr. for public indecency.

“Their lawyers spoke out and said: Look, I don’t think that’s the case,” he said. “These inspectors appeared There’s some sort of gun blazing going on in the house for a public indecency charge or two. …At this point it seems like it’s about something else. We just don’t know what it is.”

Conlin also learned from her reporting that the family’s situation may have gone unnoticed for so long because the area they lived in was so poor. People in the community said they knew the family was poor, but this was not unusual in the area.
“The average salary here is $55,000. And that’s very, very small,” Conlin said. “Additionally, only 13% of the people there university graduates. And I wonder if that would be a defence. …This is the best we can do given the circumstances.”
