Shreveport Police arrest high school principal on domestic violence, child endangerment charges

The principal of Huntington High School in Shreveport has been arrested on domestic violence and child endangerment charges.

The Shreveport Police Department released details of the arrest on Tuesday, October 21.

Shreveport Police were contacted by Caddo Parish Schools on October 20 following allegations of domestic violence against Nicholaus Smith. Following the investigation, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Smith on two counts of domestic abuse involving child endangerment, according to police.

Smith surrendered to the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the Caddo Parish School Board.

“As we work to make our community a safer place for all citizens, it is great to see agencies taking domestic violence seriously,” said Shreveport Police Chief Wayne Smith.

According to police, this incident occurred during Smith’s private time and did not occur on school property or during school hours.
