Man suffers life-changing burns in explosion at suspected cannabis farm

A man suffered life-changing burns following an explosion at a suspected cannabis farm on a property in Derbyshire.
Emergency services, including police and fire, were called to the scene at Summerfield Road, Boythorpe, Chesterfield, at 2.50pm on Friday, where officers discovered suspicious cannabis plants growing.
Derbyshire Constabulary said the explosion damaged the detached house as well as a nearby property and left one man with what are believed to be “life-changing” burns.
power told Independent He reported that no arrests have been made so far. In a statement, the police said: “An investigation has been launched into the explosion that occurred at a suspected marijuana grower in Chesterfield.
“A joint investigation into the incident has been launched between Derbyshire Constabulary and Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service and the scene has been cordoned off this morning.
“We are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.”
Neighbors of the property escaped unharmed but were evacuated as a precaution and later returned to their homes. Police said that work has been initiated to make the scene safe.
“Anyone with CCTV, Ring doorbell or dashcam footage covering the scene and who has not yet spoken to officers is of particular interest.”
Police said there was no greater threat or danger to the public and residents who may have heard the “loud explosion” Friday afternoon.
