Draymond Green wants retribution for Timberwolves after Wembanyama dodges NBA punishment

Responsibility
Megan Rapinoe got back on topic and defended Angel Reese’s decision to avoid the media and “keep her peace.” Dan Dakich isn’t buying it. Since when did missing work become “taking back the power”? Dan explains why the modern sports culture of “everyone is empowered, no responsibility” is a disease damaging the development of women’s sports.
It’s been a busy 24 hours for Draymond Green.
Instead of watching the NBA Playoffs from his couch, Green was all over the place, playing a cameo role in Kevin Hart’s roast, hitting a “3” on Chelsea Handler off the court, and shuffling headlines from behind a podcast microphone.
Green had a lot to say after Sunday’s heated Game 4 in Minneapolis in which Spurs phenom Victor Wembanyama was ejected against the Timberwolves.

Wemby scored her first career ejection tally when she elbowed Naz Reid in the neck. The game was rated Flagrant 2 and San Antonio never recovered without their center player, tying the series at 2-2.

On Monday, Green jumped on his podcast and blasted both Wembanyama and the NBA after the league chose not to issue suspensions or fines. The truth is, the NBA was hardly expected to field one of its biggest stars ahead of a crucial playoff game.

Green, no stranger to throwing elbows as a longtime enforcer, argued the penalty didn’t go far enough and Minnesota got the short end.
“What if the shoe is on the other foot and Naz is beating Wemby?” Green asked.
“There were going to be fines. There were going to be suspensions. Jaden McDaniels and Jokic were fined a lot less. Because it’s crazy that there were no fines.”
“After watching their coach say ‘I’m glad he took matters into his own hands and elbowed Naz Reid out’ I would tell the Timberwolves it’s fair play. No penalty, no penalty. Who’s going to come in there tomorrow night and do this to Wemby?”
Initial rumors were that Wembanyama might face suspension.
Replays showed a violent swing that, while not exactly targeted, appeared intentional enough to raise eyebrows.

Even Spurs teammate Dylan Harper was stunned by the outburst. However, after review, the NBA did not find sufficient findings to warrant further punishment.
After the loss, Spurs coach Mitch Johnson defended his star.
“As far as the amount of physicality people play with it, you have to protect yourself on some level,” Johnson said.

“Every game people try to impose their physicality on you. He gets pushed down in transition, he runs free. We’re not complaining, we’re just playing. But at some stage he has to be protected. Otherwise he’ll have to protect himself and unfortunately things like that happen.”
“It’s getting disgusting. Not in the sense of bashing Naz Reid, I’m glad she’s taking matters into her own hands, but if she’s not, she’s going to have to defend herself. And I think that’s disgusting.”
The series now moves on to the critical Game 5 to be played on Tuesday, where tensions are already escalating.
Whether the league wants to acknowledge it or not, Green’s warning remains up in the air. If Minnesota feels they have been wronged, all eyes will be on how they respond.
