Delhi weather update: Light rain lashes Delhi after earliest 30°C February in 5 years; IMD issues yellow alert. Check Noida, Gurugram forecast

Delhi residents woke up to sunshine on Wednesday, a day after recording 30.9 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, the hottest day of the year so far. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted very light to light rains on Wednesday, accompanied by strong winds with speeds ranging from 30 to 40 kilometers per hour this afternoon. Maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 27 degrees Celsius and 14 degrees Celsius respectively.

According to IMD, a yellow alert has been issued for Delhi and skies are expected to be cloudy for the day. There is a possibility of very light showers as well as thunderstorms in deserted places in the morning hours. Very light to light rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in isolated places towards noon in Delhi and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 km per hour are expected. In the afternoon, very light rain is expected in remote areas. According to the weather agency, intermittent showers are expected to spread over parts of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan in the next few hours.

Minimum temperatures are likely to remain unchanged over the next 24 hours, then drop by 2-3°C over two days, officials said. No significant changes are expected from now on.

IMD has predicted generally cloudy and slightly rainy weather in Noida for today. Maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 26 degrees Celsius and 11 degrees Celsius respectively. Skies are forecast to be mostly clear for the next few days. Gurugram is likely to experience partly cloudy skies and one or two showers or showers. Maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 28 degrees Celsius and 14 degrees Celsius respectively. Skies are predicted to be clear in Gurugram for the next few days.

IMD said light rains are very likely in some parts of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, including Sonipat, Kharkhoda, Charkhi Dadri, Mattanhail, Jhajjar, Farukhnagar, Kosali, Mahendargarh, Sohana, Rewari, Palwal, Narnaul, Bawal, Nuh, Aurangabad and Hodal in Haryana in the next two hours; Bagpat, Khekra, Modinagar and Pilakhua in Uttar Pradesh; and Bhiwari, Tizara, Khairthal, Alwar, Viratnagar, Nagar, Laxmangarh and Rajgarh in Rajasthan. Very light rainfall or drizzle is likely to occur in Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Narwana, Karnal, Fatehabad, Assandh, Safidon, Barwala, Jind, Panipat, Adampur, Gohana, Gannaur, Hansi, Tosham and Rohtak in Haryana; Shamli, Kandhla, Khatauli, Sakoti Tanda, Hastinapur, Baraut, Daurala, Meerut, Kithor, Garhmukteshwar, Hapur, Gulaoti, Siyana, Sikandrabad, Bulandshahar, Khurja, Jattari, Nandgaon and Barsana in Uttar Pradesh; and Kotputli and Deeg in Rajasthan.
