Eight dead, 25 injured in Bangkok train-bus collision

At least eight people were killed and 25 injured in a public bus fire triggered by a train collision in Bangkok.

Rescue workers and police stated that fire brigade and rescue teams were dispatched to the region after the flames engulfed the bus and nearby vehicles, and stated that the accident occurred in trains, buses, cars and motorcycles.

Officials said that while fire crews intervened in the fire with water hoses to control the fire, rescue teams tried to pull the injured out of the rubble.

It was stated that the fire was under control and the teams continued to cool the area, evacuate the gas and search for the victims. The cause of the accident is being investigated.

Videos of the crash shared on social media showed a row of vehicles stopped at a railroad crossing when a freight train crashed into an orange bus in front. While many nearby vehicles were dragged along the rails due to the impact, the bus burst into flames. After the collision, many motorcycles and their drivers were thrown onto the road.

Later videos showed a group of rescue workers entering the burned bus after the flames were brought under control.
