Billionaire SpaceX owner Elon Musk has made a devastating judgment about Jeff Bezos’ latest space disaster: the explosion of the Blue Origin New Glenn rocket.
Blue Origin’s New Glenn was reportedly conducting a static fire test when it exploded at Kennedy Space Center’s Launch Complex 36 in Florida.
Musk said simply on social media platform X: “Very unfortunate. Rockets are hard.”
Blue Origin released a statement after today’s explosion.
A spokesperson said via a post on social media: “We experienced an anomaly during today’s hot fire test. All personnel have been accounted for. We will provide updates as we learn more.”

Images circulating online show an explosion at the base of the rocket; smoke quickly rises up the shaft before a second explosion explodes near the spacecraft’s pointy nose. The entire vehicle is then engulfed in a large, bright yellow fireball.
