Emily Blunt Admits She Was Quite Scared of Meryl Streep During The Devil Wears Prada Shoot

mumbai: The reunion of ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ cast brought back fun memories from the hit movie, and this time it was Emily Blunt who shared an interesting story about working with Meryl Streep.
According to PEOPLE magazine, during an exclusive SiriusXM Front Row chat hosted by Andy Cohen, Emily Blunt, Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci sat down to talk about the film and its sequel.
When Cohen asked if working with Meryl Streep was scary, Blunt admitted that she was nervous facing the Oscar-winning actress in the first movie.
“So I was pretty scared the first time because it felt like you were in a zone,” Blunt told Streep, according to PEOPLE.
Streep immediately agreed, replying: “Oh, yeah. I was in that zone too.”
Blunt later joked that Streep had the exact character of Runway Magazine’s strict editor-in-chief, Miranda Priestly.
“It was in the Miranda area,” Blunt said.
He added that although Streep was not unapproachable, she remained serious during filming and did not break character easily.
“It’s not insurmountable, but we can come in and tell you a funny story, but you don’t normally have that phenomenal laugh that I hear,” Blunt shared.
When asked if it was difficult to remain “method” during the role, Streep simply replied, “No.”
The master actor then explained how he created Miranda Priestly’s powerful presence on the screen.
“The first three days I just hung around the camera with the director and hung out, and then we were just continuing to do the scene and I was going, you know, this and they were going… it was just like a suspension. A slight suspension. Authority, that thing,” Streep said.
He also shared that taking some time away from the cast made him feel like the boss on screen.
“She was saying the same thing. You know, they don’t want you at the cast party, right? It’s like you have to feel like the boss and have some barrier to pull that off, I don’t know what it was, but it worked. When I got back and I was miserable in my trailer, I heard them all in the makeup trailer and I could hear them all from afar, they’re all having a great time, you know,” Streep said.
The sequel to ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ will be released on May 1. The story will follow Miranda Priestly as she deals with the changing world of magazine publishing and confronts Emily Blunt’s character, who is now a powerful executive in the luxury industry.
