Emma Vigeland says ‘secret Nazi’ wouldn’t matter if votes align

Far-left podcaster Emma Vigeland attracted attention this month with her response to the political meltdown of Maine oysterman Graham Platner.
Vigeland, a former Young Turks reporter who currently hosts the Majority Report podcast with Sam Seder, said: said in a separate Vox podcast that he doesn’t care if a progressive or socialist candidate has “Nazi” skeletons in their closet.
“I’m wary of focusing too much on an individual’s personal character through their platforms. You know, I’ve said this before. I don’t care if Bernie Sanders or AOC goes home and they’re a closet Nazi, but they go out and vote for the right things. It’s like we’re talking about politicians…” the Democratic Socialists of America member said during the podcast in early July.
“Don’t you care?” As Vigeland stayed behind, Vox host Astead Herndon intervened.

Vigeland added that this was an “extreme example” but that the candidates and politicians represented a party’s “tax the billionaires” platform. [and] “It brings material differences to people’s lives.”
“And that’s what I value more than anyone’s individual behavior, because … how many terrible people there are in Washington right now, centrist or center-right.”

Herndon later said some voters view a candidate’s moral character as qualification for office, while Vigeland said the people taking a “victory lap” over Platner’s downfall also supported former President Bill Clinton and former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo — both of whom were previously accused of sexual harassment, which they denied.
Reaction to X was harsh, as one user posted a photo of Vigeland in a Schutzstaffel uniform and wrote, “In the 1940s, Emma Vigeland would volunteer for the SS.”

Another critic called socialism and communism “a dark path these people are down” and noted that the party platform includes extremist proposals such as abolishing the U.S. Senate and federal law enforcement.

“It is sold to the public with false claims, using basic instincts that are strong but difficult to manage in civil society.”
Vigeland’s comments come after years of socialist and far-left groups and individuals disparagingly branding conservatives and Trump supporters as “fascists,” a political movement coined by then-Italian “Duce” Benito Mussolini; A close ally of German Chancellor Adolf Hitler during World War II.
