Employees Thank Government for Restoring Old Pension Scheme

Employees and teachers from North Andhra who were shifted from Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) to Old Pension Scheme (OPS) held a thanksgiving meeting in Visakhapatnam on Sunday and expressed gratitude to the Andhra Pradesh government for implementing pension reform.

Addressing the meeting, MLC and Government Whip Vepada Chiranjeevi Rao said that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has provided long-term financial security to thousands of government employees by restoring OPS. He said the plan will benefit approximately 11,000 families by providing financial security even after employees retire.

Chiranjeevi Rao said the government has also extended OPS benefits to employees and teachers who were hired under the 2004 notification but joined the service after 2004 due to technical reasons, making them eligible for pension and gratuity.

Telugu Desam state president and Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao thanked the Prime Minister for issuing Government Resolution (GO) No. 53, which facilitated the transition from CPS to OPS. He said the government remains committed to the welfare of employees and teachers.

Visakhapatnam North MLA Vishnu Kumar Raju criticized the previous YSRC government and alleged that it had damaged the dignity of teachers by giving them duties related to managing queues at liquor shops.
