England: BBC Sport choose their World Cup XIs – who would you pick?

I believe Thomas Tuchel knows his 11 very well and the division of this squad tells us more.

The real question mark for me is who will start as number 10; I struggle to understand an England team without Jude Bellingham, but it’s clear Tuchel loves Morgan Rogers after a superb season.

However, with Aston Villa not fully fit and Bellingham returning to Real Madrid, it could force Tuchel to reconsider.

In the midfield, Declan Rice and Elliot Anderson are two of the first names in the team squad. Anderson’s emergence this season could be the difference between success and failure this summer and I really think he is a player Gareth Southgate would love to have.

I think there is time for both sides of Harry Kane to change, but Bukayo Saka needs to start as he is currently singing along and Anthony Gordon’s numbers are hard to ignore.

Defensively Lewis Hall’s form means he is now the standout choice for me at left-back, and for centre-back I would have loved to see him and his experience alongside Manchester City team-mate Marc Guehi had John Stones not had such an injury-ravaged season.

Let’s also hope that Reece James will be fully fit come June 17 – it would be interesting to see Trent Alexander-Arnold in the squad as well, just to give us a different option than the full-backs.

Also worth mentioning is Nico O’Reilly, who is missing because I don’t know where he’ll play; but performances like the one in the Carabao Cup final will only increase his chances of getting in.
