Shubman Gill etches name in history at The Oval; joins Sunil Gavaskar, Virat Kohli in elite list

As his records grow, Gill also wants to cross 810 running records by a captain in a test series of Sir Don Bradman (against England in 1936).

India’s young captain Shubman Gill continued his good shot against England. On the 1st day of the 5th test in Oval, it reached another record. Now in a distinguished group, Sunil stands with Gavaskar and Virat Kohli and strengthens its place in the history of Indian cricket.

Gill, led by his stick throughout the series, needed only 11 runs to break the record for the most running of an Indian captain in a series of Sunil Gavaskar. In 1978-79, Gavaskar joined 732 against the West Indian Islands. Gill has passed this sign early and brought its series to a total of 737* running. In his first series as Captain, it shows great leadership and stroke skills.

However, Gill is leading Indian captains in the runs scored in a test series. He defeated Gavaskar (732 Running in 1978-79) and 655 runs against England in 2016 and defeated Virat Kohli, a 610 run against Sri Lanka in 2017.

In addition to his achievements, Gill ran Gary Sobers’s 59 -year -old record by a captain who visited a test series in the UK. In 1966, Sobers had 722 runs. Gill defeated this record in Oval and showed how well he played in England.

As his records grow, Gill also wants to cross 810 running records by a captain in a test series of Sir Don Bradman (against England in 1936). 73 needs more running. If he scored another century in Oval, he will be the first captain to hit five centuries in a dual series and already match Gavascar and Bradman to four centuries.

While the India tries to connect the series 2-2, Shubman Gill’s stroke and captain is the key because he leads and rewrite records with each inning.
