ESPN’s Mike Greenberg blasts Knicks fans for throwing eggs at Wembanyama

The San Antonio Spurs’ historic collapse in Game 4 of the NBA Finals ended with one final humiliation. NBA star Victor Wembanyama was taunting Knicks fans on his way back to the Spurs team hotel when he was struck by what appeared to be a thrown egg.
Circulating images Social media showed at least one egg being thrown towards Wembanyama as security personnel escorted him to a hotel in New York City. This is the latest in a series of headline-grabbing incidents involving Knicks fans in recent days.
The aftermath of San Antonio’s Game 3 victory spread beyond the arena; social media videos showed Knicks fans physically confronting Spurs fans. Some Spurs fans were seen tearing their jerseys during the exchange, leading Wembanyama to condemn the behaviour.

“My thoughts, of course [are] “We can’t forget that this is a game,” he said. “We’re just playing a game out there. I’m all for passion but [with] respect each other. This is unacceptable.”
The NBA’s reigning Defensive Player of the Year wasn’t alone in that view; ESPN host Mike Greenberg expressed similar thoughts after Game 4.
“If you are throwing eggs at Victor Wembanyama and beating people, threatening people or doing anything to people wearing Spurs jerseys, know that you are a disgrace. You are not disgracing this city, you are disgracing yourself and everyone who knows you,” said New Yorker Greenberg. he said on thursday “Get up” pressure.

A watch party in New York City turned violent following the Spurs’ 115-111 victory in Game 3.
Multiple fights broke out near a watch party in Bryant Park in Midtown Manhattan on Monday. The New York Police Department told Fox News Digital that 21 people were arrested; Of these, 13 were arrested for disorderly conduct and eight for assaulting officers, criminal possession of a weapon and making threats. 13 people arrested for irregularities were released.

This year marks the Knicks’ first trip to the NBA Finals since 1999, when they lost to the San Antonio Spurs. New York hasn’t won an NBA championship since 1973.
The 2026 NBA Finals will return to San Antonio on Saturday for Game 5. If necessary, Game 6 will return to New York on Tuesday.
