Esther Rantzen’s daughter condemns assisted dying bill failure | News

Rebecca Wilcox, daughter of Dame Esther Rantzen, described the repeal of the assisted dying law as “democratic vandalism”.
The Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill, which has been tabled in Parliament for the last year and a half, is expected to fall without a vote in the final scheduled session of the upper house debate before the end of this session on Friday, April 24.
Terminal cancer patient Dame Esther is one of the Bill’s best-known supporters.
Ms Wilcox wrote on Instagram: “This is a shameful moment for UK democracy. But we won’t stop campaigning until everyone has the option to die without suffering. That includes those who choose not to die. That’s how an election works.”
“How many more people will die in unnecessary pain because of this democratic vandalism?”
