Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor made a cruel comment about Meghan Markle on the day of King Charles’ coronation in May 2023. Despite tensions with his family, Prince Harry traveled to England to support his father on his big day at Westminster Abbey.
The 41-year-old traveled without Meghan, who opted to stay in California with her two children. In his last book, Betrayal: Power, Deceit and the Fight for the Future of the Royal FamilyPublished last month, author Tom Bower shared how tensions were high between Harry and his disgraced uncle.
Mr Bower wrote: “In the cold rain Harry arrived at the abbey with Andrew.
“The disgraced prince [Andrew] At that time he was still refusing the king’s order to move to Frogmore [Cottage, Harry and wife Meghan Markle’s old home] From the 30-bedroom Royal Lodge mansion where he lives with his ex-wife Sarah [Ferguson].
“Relations between uncle and nephew were not good.”
He later added that Andrew had referred to Harry’s wife: “In some accounts, Andrew had harshly dismissed Meghan as an ‘opportunist’.”
According to author Andrew Lownie, Andrew’s relationship with Prince William “wasn’t very good” because he was also rude to his wife.
Referring to Mr Lownie’s 2025 book Entitled, a source said: “[Andrew’s] His relations with William are not good. There have been tensions between the two men for years, partly due to Andrew being rude about Kate. [Middleton].”
Meghan may be set to travel to England with Harry this summer to take part in the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games.
Six-year-old Prince Archie and four-year-old Princess Lilibet are also scheduled to join their parents.
