Ex-teacher accused of abusing trust with students as probe widens fast

A former fifth-grade teacher in Louisiana has been arrested on multiple charges involving her underage students.
Marisa Noel, 31, St. He faces a total of 25 charges, including 10 counts of indecency with a minor, one count of first-degree rape, two counts of child sexual exploitation material, one count of unlawful communication and three counts of computer-assisted harassment of a minor, according to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Becket Breaux launched an investigation against Noel on Jan. 28 after receiving a complaint that he was “having an inappropriate relationship with one of his former students,” according to the sheriff’s office’s Facebook post.
Noel was a teacher at Teche Elementary School at the time.

With the assistance of the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation and Homeland Security Investigations, authorities said there was enough evidence to arrest the former teacher on four counts of indecent conduct with a minor and four counts of computer-assisted harassment of a minor.
Authorities also said additional charges were added after another unnamed victim was identified.
The ages of the former teacher’s victims were not disclosed.
Christmas is on Monday in St. He was booked into the Martin Parish Jail, where records show he remains in custody.

Although no bail has been set for the new charges, Noel’s previous bail was set at $750,000.
Authorities stated that the investigation continues. It’s unclear whether more charges will be filed.
