New poll sees Green Party leapfrog Labour and Tories into second | Politics | News

A bombshell new election poll has placed the Green Party in second place, ahead of Labor and the Conservative Party for the first time. Reform maintains its strong lead at the top of Find Out Now’s latest survey of voters’ intentions, but the Greens will be the happiest this evening.

The poll shows the far-left party rising 2 points to 17%, ahead of both Keir Starmer and Kemi Badenoch. The Conservatives fell one point to 16%, while Labor remained steady at the same level of support. The LibDems were also steady at 12% compared to last week.

UK Electoral Maps predicted that this poll, if seen in an election, would result in a 130-seat Reform landslide against all other parties.

Divided opposition due to Britain’s First Past the Post electoral system can lead to some strange results.

The Liberal Democrats are the official opposition with 72 seats, while Labor has just 51 seats left, just ahead of the SNP with 43 seats.

Despite receiving the second most votes, the Greens would only win 41 seats, but would still have twice as many seats as the Conservative Party’s six.

Reacting to the poll, Green Party leader Zack Polanski said: “We’re just getting started. It’s time to lower the bills. And tax the billionaires.”

“If you want to see the Green Party engage in reform, now is the time.”

He also warned that Labor should withdraw from certain seats to allow the Greens to take over on Reform UK or to ensure proportional representation.
