FBI director ‘wanted to go to Premier League game instead of meeting MI5’

FBI director Kash Patel reportedly wants to attend Premier League football matches rather than attend office-based meetings with international allies, including Britain’s MI5 director.
A senior FBI director said: New York Times When Mr Patel attended a secret Five Eyes Conference attended by intelligence services from Britain, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the US in May, he said he did not want to go to meetings in offices.
The source said Mr Patel instead wanted to prioritize social events such as live sports and jet skiing..
The manager said: “He says he is unhappy before the conference because his staff do not like office meetings. What he wants is social events. He wants Premier football matches.”
“He wants to go jet skiing. He wants to take a helicopter tour. Everyone who heard this said: Stop.”
“Is he really going to ask the MI5 director to go jet skiing instead of meeting? The schedule is clear and every Five Eyes partner does it.”
“They can’t say he didn’t attend and wanted to go to a Premiership football match instead. It’s business, lads.”
The White House denied the allegations in the news, saying that it was a “repeat of false narratives” and that the report was full of “speculation from anonymous sources.”

Mr Patel is apparently a fan of reigning Premier League champions Liverpool FC.
He wore a club tie to a US senate hearing in September and tweeted his support for Arne Slot’s team, particularly celebrating their Premier League title win last April.
Apart from the desire to watch Premier League football, NYT The article includes a series of accusations that Mr. Patel’s early leadership at the FBI resulted in sweeping changes that sources claim made the United States less safe.
Following the assassination of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk, Mr. Patel allegedly prioritized scheduling social media posts for himself, his former deputy Dan Bongino, and the Salt Lake City field office, as senior executives and field offices sought to brief authorities on the situation.
“[Patel] and Bongino are starting to talk about their Twitter strategy,” the senior FBI director said. NYT. “And Kash said: I’ll tweet this. Salt Lake, you tweet this. Dan, you come back with this. Then I’ll come back with this.”
“They’re literally setting up social media scripts, without talking about how we’re going to react, the resources, or the situation. He’s screaming that he wants to release things, but it hasn’t even been vetted yet. It’s not even true.”
Independent He contacted the White House for comment.
In a statement NYT, The FBI said: “This story is a repetition of false narratives, conjectures, and speculation from anonymous sources disconnected from reality. They can whine and sell lies all they want — but that doesn’t change the fact that the FBI is working with partners at every level under this administration to deliver a historic 2025.”
The following statements were made in the statement made by the White House: New York Times: “President Trump and FBI Director Kash Patel are restoring integrity to the FBI by focusing on fighting crime and letting good cops be cops.”
