Fed Chairman Kevin Warsh testified before Senate banking committee

While testifying before the Senate Banking Committee on Wednesday, Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh faced questions about the economy and how various factors could affect interest rates.

Warsh spoke to the House Financial Services Committee on Tuesday as part of Congressionally authorized Capitol Hill appearances for the central bank leader. In his speech, he reiterated the Fed’s commitment to fighting inflation but gave few clues about the direction of monetary policy.

Lawmakers have tried to coax Warsh into commenting on fiscal and political issues, but Warsh has largely avoided the topics, emphasizing the importance of the Fed focusing on its assigned responsibilities.
