Conservative Christian college in Michigan announces Erika Kirk as 2026 commencement speaker
A conservative Christian college in Michigan has announced a big name for its 2026 commencement speaker.
Hillsdale College announced Friday that Turning Point USA CEO Erika Kirk will deliver the commencement address during commencement on May 9. Kirk is the widow of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was shot and killed while attending college in 2025.
“Charlie Kirk became a national and international sensation and built something great. The greats, the near-perfects, and tens of millions of people watched his memorial service. We loved him because, at heart, he was a student who worked hard to do right. Erika Kirk, a brave widow, wants to move on. And we will help her,” said University President Larry Arnn.
Erika Kirk earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and international relations from Arizona State University and a Juris Master’s degree in American legal studies from Liberty University.
“It was a great honor to be invited to speak at the Hillsdale College commencement ceremony. Charlie loved Hillsdale deeply and was often a grateful student for its online courses, learning from Dr. Larry Arnn and exceptional faculty members who were so committed to truth and the pursuit of wisdom,” Kirk said in a statement. he said. “Hillsdale represents something rare in our time: an unwavering commitment to faith, learning, and the principles that sustain a free nation. I sincerely appreciate your invitation and look forward to being there with all of you. God bless you.”
In the statement made by the university, it was stated that the graduation ceremony will be closed to the public but can be watched via live broadcast.
