Fine imposed for violating bind-over conditions

A fine of ₹ 50,000 was imposed on a person found to have violated the conditions of bonding.
According to Reddappa, circle inspector of Dharmavaram I Town, 33-year-old Dhanunjaya, who hails from Cherlopalli village in Bathalapalli Mandal and currently resides in YSR Colony, was found to have purchased PDS rice from ration shops at low prices and sold it in Karnataka and other parts for profit.
Cases were registered against Dhanunjaya under Section 7(1) of the Essential Commodities Act. After the first case, he was granted a bail of ₹ 5 lakh before the MRO.
However, he was found to have violated the ‘binding’ bail conditions by engaging in criminal activities again and was produced before the MRO in accordance with the relevant legislation and a fine of ₹50,000 was imposed as per the forfeiture provisions of the bond. The accused deposited the penalty amount in the Treasury through challan.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Reddappa said people who are subject to binding orders will face fines and other legal action if they engage in further criminal activity. Mr. Reddappa also said that stringent action will continue against those involved in illegal purchase, storage, transportation or sale of PDS rice.
