Kid Rock’s helicopter video sparks US Army investigation into flyover

Kid Rock came under fire from the US Army after the musician shared a clip showing military helicopters flying over his home in Nashville.

The “Cowboy” singer pumped his fist in the air as two helicopters waited idle outside his Tennessee home, which has been dubbed the “White House of the South.”

“I think they’ll be fine,” he said WKRN. “My friend is the commander in chief. So, what are they investigating? Did they stop for seconds… a minute?”

Rock, 55, said he regularly says “what’s up” when pilots are practicing in the area. “It was pretty cool that they stopped right there,” he described Saturday’s maneuver. “I wasn’t expecting any of this, but I thought it was pretty cool.”

Rock, whose full name is Robert Ritchie, cheered as an Apache attack helicopter flew by his pool, which features a life-size statue of the Statue of Liberty.

“This is a level of respect for minds that the Governor of California will never know,” the musician said added subtitles to his video.

A spokesperson for Fort Campbell told local WKRN that an investigation has been launched into the flight at Kid Rock’s home in Whites Creek.

“Fort Campbell leadership is aware of a video circulating on social media showing AH-64 Apache helicopters operating near a private residence associated with Mr. Robert Ritchie (also known as “Kid Rock”). The command has initiated an investigation to review the circumstances surrounding this activity,” said Maj. Jonathon Bless, 101st Airborne Division Public Affairs Officer.

“The 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and Fort Campbell maintain stringent standards for aviation safety, professionalism and adherence to established flight regulations. We take seriously all concerns regarding aircraft operations and their impact on the surrounding community.”

AH-64 Apache helicopters reportedly flew over the No Kings protest in downtown Nashville earlier in the day.

“These helicopters were flying a route around Nashville for training purposes. Any connection to the No Kings Rally, which was also taking place in Nashville that day, is purely coincidental,” Bless said.

Kid Rock is an outspoken supporter of the President Donald Trumpshe supported him in all three presidential campaigns.
