‘Bengaluru’s mobility story reflects its success and challenges’

Bengaluru added more than 7 lakh new vehicles to its roads last year alone, IT Minister Priyank Kharge said on Friday.
“There are more than 1.2 crore registered vehicles in Bengaluru today – around 82 lakh two-wheelers and 25 lakh cars. Around 58,913 new vehicles have been registered in August 2025 alone,” the minister said on X here on Friday, the day he attended the mobility symposium titled “Beyond Congestion for India – Reimagining Urban Mobility” organized by MoveInSync, a technology company. He said the city’s mobility story reflects both its success and challenges.
“We are one of the fastest growing cities in the world and our GDP is expected to grow at over 8.5% annually over the next decade,” the minister wrote on the platform. “While these figures were a reflection of a growing city, they were also an indication of why city roads were bursting at the seams.”
The 2025 edition of the mobility symposium brought together policymakers, industry leaders and civic innovators to advance sustainable, inclusive and future-ready urban mobility in India.
