Helpline set up for stranded travellers from Belagavi

Belagavi district administration has set up a helpline to help travelers stranded in West Asian countries.

Due to the unstable situation in some countries in the region, there were disruptions in international flight services.

Residents of Belagavi area or their relatives can contact the following phone numbers for further information and assistance: District Emergency Operations Center 0831-2407290, 080-22340676, 080-22253707 or toll-free number: 1070.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan urged passengers coming from the state to strictly follow the safety rules issued by local governments. Those in distress should call the helpline of the Indian Embassy in the concerned country or register on the Sarthi Sahayata portal.

Mr Roshan said visa related issues should be contacted at the nearest FRRO office.

The airspace of a total of 11 countries, including Iran, Israel, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia, was closed until March 2. Due to this unexpected disruption, many passengers from Karnataka were stranded in various countries, including Dubai and the UAE.

In line with the instructions of the Prime Minister and the Minister of Revenue, State and District Emergency Operation Centers provide 24-hour service.

The statement stated that the officers constantly follow the instructions issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Indian Embassy.
