Fly91 Flight to Hubballi Diverted to Bengaluru Amid Bad Weather

Bengaluru: While the Fly91 flight from Hyderabad to Hubballi was diverted to Bengaluru due to adverse weather conditions, airport officials stated that all passengers were safe. The incident caused panic among passengers when the plane remained in the air for three hours on Sunday.

Some of the frightened passengers burst into tears and began to pray for their safety. Sources said that the flight, which left Hyderabad around 3.30 pm, was planned to land in Hubballi around 4.30 pm, but this could not be accomplished due to adverse weather conditions.

“Due to bad weather, the flight from Hyderabad to Hubballi was diverted to Bengaluru,” an airport official said, adding that such diversions are a standard security measure. According to the official, the aircraft remained airborne over Hubballi for about an hour in anticipation of improvement in weather conditions before changing direction.

“This is a general practice. Planes circle in the air for a while and wait for the weather to improve. This is the pilot’s decision,” he said. The plane then landed in Bengaluru around 6.30 pm and flew back to Hubballi around 11 pm after the weather conditions improved, the official added.

Sources stated that there were 22 passengers on the plane. Authorities pointed out similar disruptions in the region and noted that a flight from Mumbai to Kolhapur was also diverted to Goa due to weather conditions. “All passengers are safe. There are no problems,” the official said.
