Former teacher charged with 1970s sex assaults
A former teacher has been accused of sexually assaulting a girl in the 1970s.
Pauline Newton, 77, of Browning Road in Ledbury, Herefordshire, was charged with four counts of indecent assault on a girl under 16.
The incidents are alleged to have occurred between 1971 and 1973 at St Anne’s Convent School (now St Anne’s Catholic School) in Southampton.
Newton is due to appear at Southampton Crown Court on August 11.

A report was produced in December 2024 and an investigation was carried out by Hampshire Police’s Operation Marmion team, which investigates non-recent allegations of sexual abuse in institutions or by public figures.
