Kshitij Tarey Dons Both Hats-Singer and Composer for Amazon MX’s Ab Hoga Hisaab

Singer-composer Kshitij Tarey, known for unforgettable tracks like Aye Khuda, Madno and Javeda Zindagi, says composing music and background score for the upcoming web series Ab Hoga Hisaab gave him the opportunity to explore the emotional depth of the characters.

Starring Mouni Roy, Sanjay Kapoor and Shaheer Sheikh, the series features two original songs composed by Kshitij Tarey, including the title track sung by him and the romantic number Saaiyaan Ve sung by Shaan.

Talking about what connected him to the story, Tarey said, “The story immediately connected with me when I stepped in. There were so many emotional layers, and capturing the protagonist’s musical journey was both challenging and satisfying. Along with the background music, creating two completely different songs for the series made the experience even more exciting.”

The singer said composing for a web series is different from films due to episodic storytelling and changing viewing habits.

“The essence of background music remains the same; it always serves the story and characters. But in a web series, you compose across multiple episodes and also keep in mind that audiences are largely watching on personal devices, which naturally affects the way the music is rendered,” he added.

Tarey also talked about collaborating with veteran singer Shaan, calling him an inspiration both professionally and personally.

“He is an extraordinary artist and an even better person. Every interaction with him is a learning experience, whether it is his approach to singing or the stories he shares from his journey in the music industry,” he said.

Reflecting on the enduring popularity of songs like Aye Khuda, Madno and Javeda Zindagi, Tarey said the greatest reward for an artist is knowing that their music continues to resonate with listeners.

“It means a lot to me when people tell me that my songs have stayed with them through some of the most emotional times of their lives. There is no greater satisfaction than knowing that your music has become a part of someone’s personal journey,” he said.
