Four people rushed to hospital after ambulance flips on its side in crash with car and lorry

4 people were taken to hospital after the ambulance overturned as a result of the collision between a car and a truck.

Emergency services rushed to the junction of the A13 and A130 in Bowers Gifford, Essex, on Friday afternoon.

Approximately 5 people were treated at the scene, while the other 4 people were taken to Basildon and Thurrock Hospital.

Six ambulances, two paramedic cars, an air ambulance and crash investigation specialist police units descended on the busy road.

The shocking footage shows an ambulance overturned on its side next to a flatbed truck and a large, black four x four car in the middle of the highway.

Traffic in the area appears to have come to a near standstill and motorists have been warned of ongoing delays in the area.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: ‘Six ambulances, two paramedic cars and the East Anglian Air Ambulance were called to the Junction of the A13 and A130 at Bowers Gifford this afternoon following reports that an ambulance was involved in a traffic accident with one or more other vehicles.

‘Five patients were assessed at the scene and four were transported to Basildon and Thurrock Hospital by road ambulance.’

Essex Police and East Anglian Air Ambulance have been contacted for comment.
