French Open 2026 results: Jakub Mensik collapses after win and Novak Djokovic swelters in Paris heat

Jakub Mensik collapsed on court after his second-round win and Novak Djokovic was depressed for almost four hours The French Open had players working harder on another hot Paris day.

Temperatures reached the mid-30s Celsius as the heatwave continued in France.

Czech Mensik was overcome with emotion and cramps as he fell to the ground after defeating Argentinian Mariano Navone 6-3 2-6 6-4 1-6 7-6 (13-11) in four hours and 40 minutes.

Mensik, who had performed brilliantly in his young career, was having difficulty moving due to injury and needed eight match points to achieve victory.

After he fell to the ground, opponent Navone crossed the net to congratulate him and help him up, but Mensik could not move.

The 26th seed lay on the ground for several minutes and was attended to by several medical personnel and ice packs were placed on his head, neck and chest to assist.

An ice pack was also laid on the floor so Mensik could rest his head like a pillow.

Eventually, Mensik was able to stand up with help and walk off the field, but struggled again as he made his way to the locker room.

The 20-year-old was then placed in a wheelchair and taken away – it remains to be seen whether he will recover for his third-round match against eighth seed Alex de Minaur on Friday.

Mensik was competing on one of Roland Garros’ outer courts, which had no shadows.
