Fresh humiliation for ex-Prince Andrew over new home | UK | News

The former prince’s Marsh Farm lies in a flood plain and residents are being advised to sign up for warnings if local measures fail to stop the flood of water from a nearby marsh.

It comes as work continues on the rundown former farmhouse in Wolferton, Norfolk – three kilometers from the King’s Sandringham House – before he moved there after being kicked out of Royal Lodge at Windsor.

Workers added a 1.8m fence around the perimeter, CCTV and security lighting and installed Sky TV.

A few new doors have also been lined up, but sources say there’s still a lot of work to be done.

Andrew could leave Royal Lodge within weeks but has been offered temporary accommodation before moving to Marsh Farm.

A flood risk assessment last year for Wolferton Barns, yards from Marsh Farm, said it would be “prudent” to include the owner’s flood warning system in the event of a mechanical failure at the pumping station that drains the marsh.

Ellingham Consulting’s assessment says: “The Environment Agency operates a flood warning system to enable homeowners to protect life or take action to manage the impact of flooding on the property.

“Failure at Wolferton Pumping Station may occur due to prolonged mechanical failure or interruption of power supply.”

“If conditions put properties and land at risk of flooding, emergency action will be taken using temporary pumping equipment.”
