UK minister calls latest image of Andrew ‘very disturbing’ and urges him to testify – UK politics live | UK news

Minister described Andrew’s latest image as ‘very disturbing’ and called on him to testify

Housing minister Steve Reed is speaking to the BBC a day after the US Department of Justice’s latest revelations about Jeffrey Epstein showed a photo of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor dressed on all fours over a woman lying on her back on the floor.

When asked what he thought when he saw Andrew’s photo, Reed said:

“Who would have thought… this is a very disturbing image and very worrying allegations and, as the prime minister has said, all our thoughts must be with the women who are victims of what Epstein and his associates did.

“And the way we can help these victims is for anyone who has any insight or knowledge about what happened to come forward and testify. We need to shed light on what happened.”

Mountbatten-Windsor has denied any wrongdoing in her dealings with Epstein.

Steve Reed’s comments come after British prime minister Keir Starmer said Andrew Mounbatten-Windsor should testify before the US Congress about his links to deceased child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Mounbatten-Windsor, who was stripped of her titles last year due to the fallout from her friendship with the billionaire, features heavily in the latest installment of the Epstein files, which were released by the US justice department on Friday.

Speaking after the latest Epstein files were disclosed, Starmer said: “First of all, I have always approached this issue with Epstein’s victims in mind. Epstein’s victims should be the first priority. As for whether there will be an apology, that is Andrew’s matter.”

“But yes, in terms of testimony, I’ve always said that anyone with information should be prepared to share that information no matter what is asked of them. You can’t be victim-centered if you’re not prepared to do that.”

As my colleagues noted in this story, documents show that a month before the Buckingham Palace invitation, Epstein suggested that he could arrange for Mountbatten-Windsor to have dinner with a “smart, beautiful and trustworthy” 26-year-old Russian woman. Mountbatten-Windsor apparently replied that she would be “delighted” to see the woman. He also asked Epstein if it was “good to be free” from house arrest.
