Gary Glitter charged with historic sexual offences

Former singer Gary Glitter, whose real name is Paul Gadd, has been accused of historic sex offenses dating back to 1978, the Metropolitan Police said.
The charges relate to one count of unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under 13 and three counts of indecent assault on a girl under 14.
The crimes are alleged to have been committed by one victim at a residential address in Kensington between 1978 and 1981.
Gadd is expected to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on August 5.
The allegations were first reported to the Met on January 9, 2025, and an investigation into the situation was launched.
Gadd was first interviewed regarding the investigation on July 22, 2025.
The alleged victim is currently being supported by specialist officers and has been informed of this update.
