Gavin Newsom says Trump ordered DOJ to investigate him and his wife

California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Monday accused President Donald Trump of ordering the Justice Department to investigate the Democrat and his wife.
Newsom said in a post: X He said Trump was motivated to target the governor and Jennifer Siebel Newsom with the investigation because “I’m considering running for president.”
The governor did not say whether he understood what the Justice Department was investigating or whether he knew what happened.
““Everyone who challenges Donald Trump is on his target list, one by one,” Newsom said. video notification. “And today, I proudly join that list.”
“He directed the Department of Justice to investigate us,” Newsom said. “They didn’t find a crime; they’re just trying to find one.”
Newsom compared himself to other Trump foes who found themselves in the Justice Department’s crosshairs during the president’s second term in the White House; these include former FBI Director James Comey, former Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, New York Attorney General Letitia James, and Sen. Adam Schiff, D-Calif. and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.

Newsom said in his video statement that federal agents have been “knocking on the doors of family friends and former employees” in recent days.
“Last week, I learned that his campaign has reached my home: He is going after my wife, Jen, to get me,” Newsom said. “A public servant. A woman who has dedicated her life to supporting women and girls.”
Siebel Newsom is a documentary filmmaker.
Newsom said the Justice Department requested records as part of the investigation and “abused the grand jury process.”
“Donald Trump isn’t just coming after me because of my bad tweets,” Newsom said. “He’s coming after me because I’m thinking of running for president.”
“Because he hates that I constantly – over and over again – denounce him for his lies and deceit,” the governor said. “Donald Trump is the most corrupt President in American history.”
