Gender Based Hostels for TIMS Doctors

Hyderabad: Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha on Thursday reviewed the arrangements made ahead of the inauguration of Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (Tims) Hospital in Sanathnagar and instructed officials to expedite all pending construction and infrastructure works. The opening is planned to be held in the second week of June.

The Minister inspected various departments and inspected medical equipment, laboratory services, blood bank infrastructure and patient care facilities. He also directed the authorities to construct separate hostel blocks for male and female doctors on the hospital campus.

To improve patient comfort, the minister ordered the development of adequate toilet facilities for both outpatients and inpatients. He also instructed the authorities to install a multi-level parking system to avoid traffic congestion on the hospital premises.

Rajanarasimha also directed the hospital management to set up a Dharmashala for patient attendants and set up two canteens on the campus. The administrative block and TB Hospital Board of Directors emphasized that office work should be completed quickly.

As part of security measures, he instructed the authorities to set up a police station at the main entrance of the hospital.

Special attention was paid to improved facilities in the blocks reserved for foreign patients. The minister also constituted a committee comprising officials of the directorate of medical education, heads of departments and engineering officials of the Telangana Medical Services Infrastructure Development Corporation to oversee the setting up of an international standard laboratory in the hospital.

Hospital authorities were instructed to prepare estimates and complete all remaining work for the hospital to become fully operational.
