The Battle of Earth, an epic saga is scheduled to be launched in December 2025 by Vishwas Mudagal

Bestselling author Vishwas Mudagal launches ‘Rudraman: The Battle for Earth’, an epic sci-fi saga combining ancient Indian folklore with future alien warfare, expanding the VMU superhero universe.

Best-selling author and entrepreneur Vishwas Mudagal is releasing one of the most extravagant Indian fiction books of the year, Rudraman: The Battle for Earth, a massive mythical sci-fi epic that is a significant step forward in VMU (Vishwas Mudagal Universe), his own superhero universe that he has been secretly working on for the last few years.

Rudraman is a play written under the VMU banner and is a dramatic combination of an ancient Indian folklore and a future alien war. This is a genius that cannot be abandoned, changing the boundaries of the genre. And Vishwas Mudagal turned out to be the master storyteller of the new generation in India.

The novel begins in 10,000 BC, where a burning spacecraft crashes into the Himalayas, dragging Lord Rudra, an ascetic warrior-yogi who disappeared centuries ago. When the alien invader Taraak Asurax descends on the ancient civilization with his godlike might and monstrous creatures, Rudra is drawn into an extraordinary battle with Princess Shakti, a fierce young warrior woman with an ancient curse. Together, they unravel Amrita’s bomb plot, which can create gods or destroy worlds.

But everything changes when Taraak takes Shakti hostage.

Rudra is short on time and must solve riddles to save not only the Earth but also the person he loves.

So why did alien predators come to earth?

What is an ancient curse that Shakti unknowingly carries?

So what is Amrita’s secret that could destroy entire worlds?

It has the intimacy of The Mahabharata, the visuals reminiscent of Star Wars and the character richness of The Avengers, but it is distinctly anchored in Indian soil, a riveting story and a nail-biting ending.

The greatest story I have ever written is Rudraman. This is where the cosmic mythology of my VMU superhero world really begins, and I wanted it to feel both wonderful and very human,” Mudagal says.

Although Rudraman is the center of attention this year, Mudagal also develops its universe using graphic narration. Her next graphic novel, Yoddha Girl, will introduce an Indian YA superhero to new audiences. The comic book series, designed as two books: Volume 1: The Brat Wakes Up and Volume 2: Training Day, tells the story of a rebellious teenager who fails his 12th exam, runs away from home, and finds himself in the world’s oldest superhero school in the Himalayas as a result of a series of accidents. Breezy, witty and wildly entertaining, Yoddha Girl transforms the VMU series into one unstoppable wonder.

On the reason behind his next foray into comics, Mudagal reveals that India needs original superheroes that it can grow with. Yoddha Girl is my vehicle to take our storytelling to a new level, visual, fast-paced, full of heart.

Although VMU is kept in the background in these releases, its presence is very clear. VMU, an up-and-coming Indian superhero universe, is slowly transforming itself into a multi-format storytelling engine—a series of books, comics, animation, and eventually live-action productions. Staying true to his long-term vision, Mudagal prefers to let the stories guide the universe rather than dragging it to untimely conclusions.

2025 is going to be an important year in Vishwas Mudagal’s creative life as Rudraman is about to get a grand release and Yoddha Girl is set to unveil a new heroine with a new idea. These novels, with Indian mythology at their core but with an international ambition, represent the next generation of Indian speculative fiction, its heart, its spectacle and its cultural richness.

Mudagal focuses on one thing: Create unforgettable characters. Build extraordinary worlds. Let the audience learn story after story about the VMU universe.
