General Motors Forced to Stop Corvette Sales With No Fix In Sight For Issue Related to Rear Turn Signal
2025 and 2026 Corvettes have been suspended from sales after General Motors detected a problem with the system that alerts drivers when their rear turn signal bulbs stop working. A solution is being worked on, but there doesn’t appear to be one yet. This affected 3,324 Corvette C8s.
Apparently, the system that warns drivers if the rear signal lights are malfunctioning is not working as it should. GM flagged the issue as a major safety concern and asked all dealers to halt sales of the Corvette until a fix is available.
According to a report prepared by CarscoopsThis is likely a software issue that GM can fix via an over-the-air update. However, vehicle lighting and related issues are taken very seriously by the authorities.
Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108 requires vehicles to notify drivers if the rear turn signal stops working. Therefore, a problem with the turn signal warning could have serious consequences for the brand and lead to GM discontinuing sales.

The problem is reportedly caused by the rear brake light outage detection system, which can stop notifying the driver if one of the rear turn signal lights stops working in the event of a malfunction. This issue may be resolved when an over-the-air software update is released for 2026 Corvettes.
However, owners of the 2025 model will have to visit the dealership once a solution is found. However, since the nature of the problem is software related, the solution will be similar; updating existing software. However, it is unknown when GM will announce the fix.
Current 2025 and 2026 Corvette owners can check if they are affected by the turn signal interruption detection system issue through GM’s recall lookup tool using program number N252541250 or National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recall number 26V213.
Another manufacturer that recently stopped selling one of its vehicles was Hyundai. Ohio has officially halted sales of certain 2026 Palisade SUV models following a tragic incident in which a two-year-old child was crushed to death by the vehicle’s electrically folding rear seats.
Motorized Biscuit It reported that Palisade’s Limited and Calligraphy trims were affected, with a total of 68,500 vehicles affected, 60,500 of which were from the United States and 8,000 from Canada.
