Gill leads with 88*, Ishan 50*; India 193/2 (28 overs)

Luckily: Indian captain Shubman Gill (87*) leads the charge as India take on Afghanistan in the second ODI in Lucknow. Wicketkeeper formed a steady partnership with batsman Ishan Kishan (51*) after both the Indian openers lost their wickets.
With Gill adopting a more explosive style and Ishan Kishan providing a more conservative but strong back, India are poised to post a formidable total with the team posting 193 for 2 wickets lost in 28 overs at the drinks break.
Yashaswi Jaiswal (4) was caught off the ball by Mohammad Saleem Safi by Nangeyalia Kharoti, while Senior Opener Rohit Sharma (48) was clean bowled by Rashid Khan.
Afghanistan Won the Toss, Chose to Bowl
Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi won the toss on Wednesday and decided to bowl against India in the second one-day international cricket match.
India won the rain-shortened first ODI in Dharamsala by seven wickets and took a 1-0 lead into the three-match series. Chennai will host the third ODI on Saturday.
Yashasvi Jaiswal opened the batting for India with Rohit Sharma, while skipper Shubman Gill moved to the third over. Wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav comes into the picture, while medium-pacer Prince Yadav makes his ODI debut after an impressive performance in IPL 2026 for Lucknow Super Giants.
However, all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy will not be able to play in this match due to pain in his left thigh. India also included Yashasvi Jaiswal in the last 11.
In Afghanistan, Darwish Rasooli and Bilal Sami made their debut.
